When planning their October 25, 2014, wedding, Salt Lake City couple Lauren Adams Crane and Roy Groesbeck Crane had no trouble selecting a venue. “Throughout the years, we spent a fair amount of time at Sundance Resort with friends and fell in love with its charm and surroundings,” says the bride. They agreed that the location was perfect for their rustic-chic celebration, a theme inspired by the bride’s classic style, the groom’s love of the great outdoors, and their mutual fondness for the mountains.
Another element they could both get behind: incorporating their families into the big day, starting with the bride’s ring. The heirloom bauble belonged to her grandmother, and the groom worked with O.C. Tanner Jewelers to reset it in rose gold with pavé diamonds surrounding the pear-shaped bling.
For the day’s décor, they worked with wedding coordinator Salted Chic Designs, and the bride called upon her brother’s longtime girlfriend, Alexandra Robbins, one of the founders of The Petal Coop along with Natalie Cruz, to bring her floral dreams to life. The couple’s sister-in-law, Sloane McCabe Crane, made all of the event signage, including handwritten name tags. They stationed their guest book on the bride’s great-grandmother’s antique desk at the entrance to the barn. Inside, they displayed original wedding photos of their mothers and grandmothers. Outside, they rented furniture from Refined Vintage Events and staged it throughout the grounds, along with cozy blankets to ward off the evening chill.
After dancing to the Joe Muscolino Band, the same live music act that played at the bride’s parents’ wedding in the 80s, the newlyweds drove off into the autumn sunset in a vintage Mercedes convertible. The groom’s father bought the car from a family friend (a guest at the wedding) for the groom’s mother’s 50th birthday, and the groom’s brother used the same getaway car for his own nuptials last summer—call it a family tradition in the making. •
